Viral marketing is cool. Make something so cool that people will actually send the ad to other people and it spreads like wildfire. This movie of Gene Kelly breakdancing is amazing to watch. Cool remix too.

So this morning we found Timothy on his tummy in his crib. We put him in there on his back. Very cool. Andrea watched him roll over this morning when she was changing him. I’m so proud!

Such a fast little learner.

Oh, and this morning when we were changing him, he had his little legs up in the air and he peed–on his own little face. Didn’t seem to bother him as much as surprise him.

Funniest thing I’ve seen in a week.

Tim rolled over this afternoon during his nap. I put him down on his tummy, went up to check on him about 15 minutes later, and he was displaced by a couple of feet and on his back. Very cool!

So that’s the first of the bi-weekly milestones that kids this age seem to start hitting. Scooting, eating solid foods, sitting up, etc… it’s all sorts of crazy from this point forward in the Simoneau household.

Last night we took Tim to the emergency room because he was wheazing and coughing.  Of course, by the time we got down there, he was fine.  No coughing or wheazing.  So we sat in a room with lots of sick kids for a couple of hours, got called up by the receptionist and then I asked if we really needed to see the doctor. An emergency room visit when you don’t need it didn’t really make sense to me at the time. So we left.

Of course the issue is that you buy peace of mind with that visit. It gives you the assurance that there is nothing really wrong with your kid. It doesn’t matter if you look at him and know he’s okay, you still don’t know what’s going on inside him.

So Tim slept in our room last night. Slept really well. He was a good little boy. He’s fine this morning. But that’s not really the point;

Last night I was reminded of how selfish I really am. My desire not to pay an emergency room fee for my son basically says this : my god is money. Which isn’t exactly true. My god is really entertainment, because I will try to avoid paying an extra $100 to the doctor when my kid might need it, but I’ll drop three grand on drums, $500 on a guitar, hundreds on DVDs and CDs, and $25 a month for DSL. Money isn’t the issue as much as me getting to do what I want with it. That’s why I minimize day-to-day living expenses to do all the fun things with the leftovers. Spend less on food, gas, electricity, a house payment, medical bills, and the like and use some of the rest for the fun stuff. The Fun Stuff is my god. Control is my god. Selfishness to a tee.

So, that’s my delimma for the day. Of course, what will probably end up happening is we’ll get billed for the nurses seeing us, the insurance wasn’t authorized, so we’ll get a $400 bill for 2 hours of waiting and 5 minutes of talking to a nurse. Then I’ll have got what I deserved.
