Whenever Bethany raises her hands, we all do this… then one of us ends it by saying

I saw this story on Slashdot about the kind of Agile development that gets done at Google. I have to say–it’s amazing that any company in the world has these practices and gets things done.
But what it comes down to is that other companies with date-focused processes get things done, but done badly, or with a staff that is exausted or low in morale.
There are two problems with this approach:
- It’s nearly impossible for startups to operate in a relaxed mindset because they’re struggling to survive.
- It takes a large organization that has a broad focus, no major corporate accounts and lots of cash for it to make sense.
Really it doesn’t work when you’re fighting to get in the black. Google got in the black and now gives more and more perks to keep morale high and output high. Sweet. How is the startup with 25 people going to allow that when they have 3 major clients calling them and breathing down their necks.
Still, it sounds wonderful.
“Bicycle hat, bicycle hat, always wear your bicycle hat.”
Imagine it with a straight “techno” beat behind it.
My college roommate created this monstrocity–his “number one hit single” that’ll make him a million bucks. Well, he may be onto something because my son sings it.
My son sings because Andrea sang it to him. She’s singing it because I told her about it… see, it’s this vicious cycle.
Boom-chick-boom-chick-boom-chick…..

Look at the fake smile on this boy…. wow.
