I wrote several months back about the Photon plugin to iPhoto and how easy it made things to publish.  So it’s understandable that you’re looking here every day for new cute pictures of kiddos and wondering “Why isn’t he posting anything!”

Well, what happened is this.  I upgraded to “Leopard” — and the one thing that broke was Photon.  It crashes iPhoto on exit.  So I’ve been trying to get the source code to try to modify it to fix the problem, BUT I’m having some issues getting the code to begin with.  Ack.

Anyway, I’m trying to figure this out, but it may be a little bit before the photos are updated–but let me assure you there are some CUTE ones on the way!

I have gone completely over to the dark side.  I now own a cell phone.. a REAL cell phone–one that is in my name and everything.  It is an iPhone.  Andrea gave it to me for my birthday early since my work said that I needed to get a phone soon.  They were going to issue one to me, and agreed to work with me if I wanted to purchase the iPhone myself.

After a little bit of use, it is quite obvious that the greatest thing about the iPhone is actually OWNING it.  I’ve played with it and saw the potential, but actually using it to organize your media, contacts, etc makes it really useful.

Anyway, it’s not perfect.  There are many, MANY flaws that make it not the best choice for a lot of people.  But if you’re a Mac user, it is a GREAT way to work.  It syncs beautifully and keeps familiar interfaces to the things you’re used to.

My biggest hope is that the iPhoneSDK that is coming out this month will give developers much greater flexibility to really develop on the iPhone platform so that it can go from a “really cool phone” to an “amazing productivity device.”

We’ll see.  But either way, I’ll be messing with it
